I am lucky to be alive. I'd like to start by saying that much.
I went to see Kimbra tonight because she needed someone to talk to. And because I found some of her stuff (two posters and a comb) still in my van. Kimbra and I had a long talk about everything - it was very good to get it all out. I'm glad we're past that now.
After I got all of Kimbra's stuff out of Stacey's house and back into her house, I left for home. I should've gone straight home.
But I decided to stop off at Channello's to see if Nick was still there. He was.
I rocked out in his car for 2 hours listening to Rammstein. It was a blast. Me and Josh White are cool now, by the way. At about 2:15, we decided to leave.
It was raining and the pavement was very wet. I took a turn on Lee Davis road too fast and sharp and lost control of my van. I tried correcting it, but ended up overcorrecting the turn and flipped my van upside down off the road. It looked like the Titanic when it was all over, I should've taken pictures.
So here's the low down. Damage control wise - my van is fucked. Not totalled, just fucked. Nick thought the axles may have been bent but those appear to be okay once it got up on the tow truck bed. But my windshield and passenger's side windows were destroyed. Thankfully it was safety glass so no shards went flying. Also, my hood is slightly dented, my roof is bent the fuck up, my passenger's side door is also dented badly. My Korg X-50, MicroKorg, and my Electribe EMX-1 were all in my trunk, as well as my backpack with my laptop in it. Thankfully, those survived the wreck. At least I don't have to buy a whole new studio!
The cops were very standoffish, but it was 3 in the morning after all. I would be too. Thankfully did not give me a ticket. Had they, I would have wreckless driving over my head and on my record for the next 10 years. That would not be cool in the least and I'm very grateful they had mercy on me.
Either way, I'm very lucky things turned out the way they did, in light of the situation. Of course I'd take having my van fully operational any day, but I'm alive and my audio gear is all in one piece (thank God I didn't have my amp in the back! It all would be crushed!).
So basically, no driving for me for a long time. Except service calls. And I'm not going to use my service van for personal driving, I can't. I have been saying for the past week I'm getting my life back on track and this is just a major bump in the road for me. I need transportation, and I'll take out a loan if I have to get a vehicle. I need to use this off-time to get back into music and get shit into gear. I need to focus on my job and school and getting money in savings. If anyone wants to buy a Novation XioSynth 49, hit me up because I desperately need the money.
No more crazy driving for me. Reasonable speeds on all roads from now on, and slower when it's raining. This is not going to happen again. You all can shit on my grave if it does, because that's exactly were I'll be if this repeats itself. I am not blaming anyone but myself and my poor decisions for what happened, so I don't want to see any finger pointing unless it's in my direction. That van was fucking everything - months worth of work and entire paychecks went into getting that thing up and running and now it's all gone because of one stupid mistake.
So please, think before you act, people. Don't turn into a fuck up like me.
